A Small Moment That Made My Whole Day

Yesterday (March 19th, 2026) at work, a customer asked me for help getting a heavy case of soda from the back of the shelf. I grabbed it for her, loaded it into her cart, and she just… thanked me and went on with her day. No weird looks, no comments about my deformed hand, no staring at my prosthetic leg hiding under my pants because it was too cold for shorts. Just a normal worker-helping-a-customer moment.
That tiny interaction made me so happy. For her, it was probably nothing special. For me, it was proof that sometimes people really do just see me as what I am in that moment: an employee doing my job well. Not an inspiration, not a curiosity, not a problem to work around. Just a person helping another person reach a case of soda. And honestly, that one part of my day was enough to carry me through everything else.
